水晶蘭屬為腐生性草本，淡白色，肉質；莖不分枝，直立。
葉互生，鱗片狀。
花單生，頂生，向下彎；萼片鱗片狀；柱頭漏斗形，中央凹入。
漿果。
台灣有兩種：1.水晶蘭 Cheilotheca humilis 2. 阿里山水晶蘭 Cheilotheca macrocarpa
